Mixed Up Animals - Day 2 - Week 2 (Mark Day School)

Drilling pilot holes and screwing in 2.5” screws is a very physical process, especially when you’re a kid. Everyone gets into it and finds their own way to make it work.

Let’s get building! That was the unified request of the tinkerers today... and understandably!

After spending a lot of time trying to conceptualize and design two nutty creatures, we had a lot of pent-up building energy waiting to be released through drills and saws and measuring tapes. Anticipating this, collaborators were busy before camp making sure we had exactly what we needed to move from design to build quickly, and with a unified vision.

At morning circle we asked students to reflect briefly on what tinkering is and why we do it, but everyone was so focused on getting to work, we’ll have to revisit that. One student did point out that it is fun, but we want them all to understand it is that and so much more!

So, in the sprit of the day, enjoy these photos of tinkerers doing some serious building!
